Read MoreHello! I haven’t posted on this space in some time. I have some exciting things happening… more on that very soon! ;)
In the meantime, hot chocolate has been a daily occurrence in my life. I was never a huge hot chocolate drinker - I usually just enjoy it a football games or around the holidays - but lately it’s all I crave. It’s rainy & dreary over here today, so you can bet I just made a batch!
Read MoreHello! I haven't popped on here all month. Which at first didn't feel like that long... but when I looked at my calendar, I couldn't believe it's pretty much the middle of July! How does time fly so fast?
Read MoreI have a few thoughts regarding today's post.
First - I am obsessed with making these peanut butter bites. As in, I've been making them every Monday for the week and each morning pack FOUR in my bag for work. It's become a real problem. But on the flip side, I've been buying less RX Bars which are pricey, so maybe I am saving money?!
Read MoreIt's May! Holy smokes, hard to believe. The warmer weather, green trees and flowers everywhere have been so uplifting. Bring on Spring!
This month is a fun one.
Read MoreHello! Another grain-free energy bite recipe for you. I usually whip up some type of date & nut bite on Sunday for the week ahead, so I'm always looking for new combinations and flavors to switch things up week after week. But, I still try to use the staple ingredients I have on hand.
Read MoreAbout once or twice a week I manage to make homemade cashew milk... with a newborn. How is this possible you ask? Well, because it is seriously so easy!! And I actually prefer the taste to all non-dairy milks out there at the store... and once you try it, I think you will too! Especially in your morning coffee.
Read MoreSo, I have this problem.
It involves the ice cream attachment for my Kitchen Aid mixer that I just don't put to use enough. You see, you have to freeze the ice cream maker before you use it. And well, I have a patience problem and by the time I decide to make ice cream, I am not willing to wait overnight to freeze the ice cream maker attachment.
Long story short, I'll resort to no-churn. But hey, it's okay! The perfect and beautiful thing about recipes like the one is that you can either make it in your ice cream maker OR freeze it without putting it through the ice cream maker. Brilliant, right?! I think so.
Read MoreYou know, it's funny, up until a few weeks ago, I had never had ginger ale. My husband had made a batch of ginger syrup and mentioned using some to make ginger ale. Ginger ale, really? Does anyone drink it? Or... am I just this only one that never has?!
Read MoreThere are some days that we need something that feels sweet. The good thing is, that something doesn't necessarily need to have any sugar in it.
That's where natural sweetness comes in. Which in this case, means lots of dates and some raw cacao powder for a deep, rich chocolately flavor that is bursting with magnesium, fiber, antioxidants... and may be my favorite superfood.
Read MoreTime. We live in a world where it always feels that there is never enough time. Time to workout, time to cook, time to grocery shop, time to read, time to just relax. Why do we feel so pressed for time?
Maybe it's because we don't use our time efficiently. We don't dedicate enough time to the things that mean the most of us. We don't put time aside to just be on our own, for ourselves. Or for our family. This year, let's all cherish our time. Stop rushing from one task to the next, as if it's a race and the more you do, the more worth you have. Spend time doing what you want to do, not what you think you should be doing.
Read MoreLast week I went home and helped my mom with a holiday dessert party. It was just her and me in the kitchen one afternoon. I like to think it's where we belong, where I grew up and where I always go back to. Right there in the kitchen with my mom.
You know, when I started this blog almost 7 years ago, I hadn't gone to culinary school. I didn't feel like a master baker or pastry chef. But, I learned most of my baking ways through my mom (that, and religiously watching Martha Stewart and just about every Saturday morning cooking show on the Food Network). It was a hands-on class each time I baked cookies with her or made homemade pies or canned jams. My mom has taught food/cooking classes, so I always felt that she was my teacher of sorts!

I'm obsessed with banana ice cream.
It's just so darn easy and so darn refreshing after a meal.
After stepping away from dairy a few years back, banana ice cream has made the transition smooth and delicious. I honestly crave this instead of the dairy and sugar-laden ice cream, I kid you not.
Read MoreHolidays are sweet, there is no doubt about that. But, the extra sugar can take a toll. On your mood, your concentration, your energy.
Which is why I sometimes just step away for a minute...
I'm about done with my November Whole30 challenge. It was over 2 years ago that I first started doing Whole30, inspired by my sister who was doing it at the time. It's been my way to re-charge as I enter the colder months. Omitting sugars, dairy and grains from my diet and focusing on whole foods. If you've done a Whole30 you know that after the month, you continue with it as a lifestyle, tweaking it to fit your own body. (Remember - we are all different and what works for one person may not work for the next!)
Read MoreCountless times I find myself grabbing a carton of non-dairy milk at the store, only to place it back at soon as I glance at the huge ingredient list, consisting mostly of additives and sugars.
(Side note: there are a few completely natural brands out there - such as New Barn - that fit the bill if I'm buying it!)
No fear... this milk saves the day! Totally natural and totally
