5 Ways I Fit in Self-Care as a Mom

Self-care as a mom can feel like an impossible task. But I’ve learned that it doesn’t have to be extravagant to be meaningful. Take this face mask, for instance. It’s my way of carving out 10 minutes for myself.

You see, self-care is essential.

Why?

Because as moms we give so much of ourselves to others every single day – but we often forget to refill our own cups.

When I don’t make time for myself, it really shows. I am more stressed and short-tempered. I don’t feel as relaxed and happy. I have to make it a priority to make time for things that make me feel good. And it can be easy to do, once you learn what those things are for you! What bring you joy? What do you look forward to doing most for YOU?

Here are 5 easy ways I fit in self-care, especially as we head into this busy, chilly season:

  • Exercise: Whether it’s a run, a walk to enjoy some fresh air, or an at-home workout, moving my body helps me stay energized and boosts my mood.

  • Skincare routine: My skincare routine is me-time at the start and the end of the day— it can be as simple as a cleanser, serum, and moisturizer. It always makes me feel refreshed and confident. And I look forward to doing it!

  • Enjoying coffee: Sipping a hot cup of coffee each morning feels like a small luxury and a moment of calm. I look forward to it each morning!

  • Favorite podcast or music: Turning on my favorite podcast or a playlist I love gives me a quick mood boost, whether I’m driving, running, walking or putting away laundry.

  • Grabbing coffee with a friend: This is one of my favorites. Making time to catch up with a friend lifts my spirits every time.

For me, self-care has been about finding those little moments that make you feel more like yourself.
