Aperol Spritz

To be completely honest, in the past. I’ve ordered Aperol Spritz’s from time to time at restaurants and was never really in love. Maybe they were too bitter for me? I am not sure. Which is kind of odd because I LOVE anything with bubbles.

But, this Spring, I was with Chad out to eat and I ordered one and actually really enjoyed it. The next time we were making cocktails at home, Chad made me one and I have been making it ever since!! This has been my repeat drink of choice this summer! I find it super easy to make, because doesn’t involved any shaking or mixing. You literally just pour into a wine glass with ice and you are good to go! If you have Aperol, Prosecco and club soda or sparking water, you can make this! I will even just do Aperol and Prosecco over ice and it is still delish! So I am kind of lenient with this recipe.

Plus, it’s pretty when served in a wine glass with an orange slice. I didn’t have oranges on hand when I wrote this post, soooo I used a lemon slice (like I said, I am a lenient cocktail maker - I roll with what I have on hand)

If you want it more bitter, use 1 part Aperol and 1 part Prosecco. I like mine with a more Prosecco, so I do more bubbles than the Aperol. I eye ball it and don’t really measure, but if you do measure… here would be the rough recipe!!…

Aperol Spritz

  • Ice (fill a wine glass up with ice)

  • 3 ounces dry Prosecco

  • 2 ounces Aperol

  • 1 ounce (a splash) club soda or unflavored sparkling water

  • Orange slice, optional, for garnish

Directions: Fill a wine glass with ice. Add the Prosecco until it’s about 1/3 of the way full. Top with Aperol and Club Soda. Garnish with an orange slice, if desired.

Cheers!
