Fall Simmering Stovetop Scent

Happy October!

I love this month. With the leaves starting to change color, it feels like we are in the height of fall and also fall fun in terms of activities to do with kids. Pumpkin patches, apple picking, baking and bonfires. I am here for it.

With the cooler weather, I’ve also been in the mood for a warm, simmering scent to fill the house. A non-toxic way to make the home smell good.

The holiday simmering scent was a huge hit on my blog last holiday season, so this one is inspired by that but with a touch of fall with apple slices instead of cranberries. I hope you enjoy as much as I have.

Fall Simmering Stovetop Scent

  • 1 apple, sliced

  • 1 orange, sliced

  • 2-4 cinnamon sticks

  • Pinch of whole cloves

  • Pinch of whole all spice

  • Few springs of Rosemary (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Place all of the ingredients in a pot on the stove and fill with water. Simmer on medium or medium-low. I’ll put on medium-high and then reduce to medium or medium-low once a simmer starts.

  2. You can simmer this all day - just keep adding more water as it needs it.

  3. Once you are done, you can store in the refrigerator and just return to the pot with more water the next day.

You can also add a few sprigs of fresh Rosemary!…
