Salt Dough Ornament Recipe - The Perfect Holiday Children's Activity!

Happy December!

It’s the time of year filled with hot cocoa, lights, decorations, cookies and all the happy things!!

My mama friend, Laura Morton, made these salt dough ornaments with her children’s’ feet pressed in and I just had to made them. I mean, HOW CUTE is this! I wrote the name, age and year of the children on the back of each after they were done! And the Christmas trees we are gifting to our parents. Dylan loved making these ornaments. You just mix all of the ingredients, roll out and make the ornaments, so it’s a great kids activity for this month that is also a great keepsake.

Thanks, Laura, for the recipe! Hope you all enjoy and try this with your own kiddos!

Salt Dough Ornaments

Recipe from Laura Morton

  • 4 cups flour

  • 1 cup salt

  • 1.5 cups water

Directions:

  1. Use the dough hook on the stand mixer and mix all of the ingredients until it forms a ball. You can also knead by hand until a ball forms. Roll out and make desired ornaments. I pressed feet and hands into the dough. And used a cookie cutter for the trees. I took some pine from our Christmas tree and pressed into the tree dough.

  2. Bake at 170 for 3-4 hours until dried out. You can also let them dry out without the oven but it takes a few days. After 3 hours I flipped them over to cook the bottoms.

  3. Hang and enjoy!
